Woodbine was introduced in the United Kingdom in 1888 by W. D. & H. O. Wills of Bristol. It became one of the most popular British cigarettes in the early 20th century. Production continued under Imperial Tobacco after 1901, and Woodbine has mainly been sold in the UK and Ireland.
